Every year for the last 4 or so years we started doing cut your own. We wanted to try somewhere different and more local to us, so we tried Solvang. We ALWAYS get our tree the Sunday after thanksgiving and ALWAYS keep it up the Sunday after NYD. Not this year….! Before I even start, I want to state, the cut your own on the property were nothing to gawk at. They were all gnarly and sickly looking. It took us an hour to locate one that looked… mediocre. The staff was very nice and helpful but that was the only positive to this experience. Also, just as a FYI, we never let the tree go dry (there was still plenty of water in the basin when I took it down today) and we’ve had our tree in the same spot most every time, so nothing different or awry on our end. However by day 3 or 4 of having it up I noticed just how many needles were dropping off this thing. It was frankly… alarming. I expect needle drop from any tree but this was ridiculous. I gave up putting the broom away and just kept it near the tree. If my son so much as stomped on the floor near it you could hear hundreds of needles drop. Solvang Tree Farm is an experience. It is a trip back in time. Wander the fields, pick the perfect tree, and cut it down with a hand saw, the same way your grand parents did. See, pet and even feed the farm animals, take family pictures, get ornaments, hot cocoa, cookies, brownies, a wreath. It's all right here. Their friendly staff will bundle your tree, and tie it to your car for you. Don't just buy a tree, make family memories that will last a lifetime, and support a local, small business at the same time!

We have been cutting our tree for the last five years and this was our first year at solvang. Its a really great place. Our son who is four had fun seeing the sheep, playing on the playground and running around the field. They have a great selection of trees and their hot apple cider was delicious. We will definitely be back next year!

We drove 45 minutes to come to this tree farm and it was worth it. The kids loved the animals, and the interesting things to play with. The staff was friendly and helpful. This was our first real tree and they told us exactly how to care for it so that it lasts. We will definitely be coming back next year!

These people are the best! My wife and I have gotten our tree from them for several years! Trees are always fresh, beautiful, and last a long time. The trees from them are so beautiful, that when we take it down from Christmas we put it outside and put lights on it there! Lasts really long, and so nice to look at night. We wouldn't get our tree from anyone else!
